During my 7-day trip to the Peloponnese, I had the pleasure of staying at Mystras Grand Palace Resort & Spa, a luxurious 5-star retreat nestled at the foot of the Taygetus Mountains. This stay was part of a press trip in collaboration with the Peloponnese Tourism Board and Sky Express, but as always, my opinions are 100% my own.
If you’re planning a trip to Mystras or looking for a peaceful getaway in the Peloponnese, hereβs everything you need to know about Mystras Grand Palace Resort & Spa before booking your stay.
The Rooms: A Cozy & Spacious Retreat
π‘ Spacious & Thoughtfully Designed
My room at Mystras Grand Palace Resort & Spa felt warm, elegant, and incredibly spacious. It had everything I needed for a comfortable stay:
βοΈ Kettle, fridge, and Nespresso coffee machine for cozy mornings.
βοΈ Hairdryer, iron, and all essential toiletries provided.
βοΈ A sofa lounge area and a dedicated desk, making it perfect for both relaxing and working.
π Ultimate Comfort for a Restful Night
The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the pillows were just rightβnot too soft, not too firm. Both Chris and I slept amazingly well throughout our 7-night stay.
πΏ Private Balcony with Stunning Views
One of my favorite perks was our private balcony overlooking the lush gardens. It was the perfect spot to unwind, and even better, it had a plug socketβa great detail for anyone needing to work or charge devices while enjoying the fresh air.
πΏ A Bathroom Designed for Relaxation
The large Italian-style shower and plush bathrobes added an extra touch of comfort. After long days of hiking and exploring, thereβs nothing like wrapping yourself in a soft robe to end the evening.
The Hotel Grounds: A Stunning Setting
π A Resort Surrounded by Mountains
One of the most breathtaking aspects of Mystras Grand Palace Resort & Spa is its location. Nestled among the majestic Taygetus Mountains, the scenery completely elevates the experienceβespecially at sunrise and sunset.
π Elegant Stone Architecture & Magical Night Lighting
The charming stone houses with beautifully designed archways give the resort an authentic Greek feel. At night, the soft golden lighting makes the entire place feel enchanting.
πββοΈ Pools & Spa Facilities
βοΈ Outdoor Pool β Closed during my stay, but I can imagine how dreamy it must be in summer with the mountain backdrop.
βοΈ Indoor Spa β Featuring a small sauna and a jacuzzi, ideal for relaxing after a day of exploration.
πΎ Fitness & Sports Amenities
βοΈ Tennis Court β A great addition for active travelers.
βοΈ Gym β A bit small and lacked natural light, which made it less inviting for me to use.
πΈ Bars & Restaurants
βοΈ Poolside Sports Bar & Lounge Bar near Reception β Perfect for grabbing drinks.
βοΈ On-site Restaurant β Serving Mediterranean cuisine (more details below!).

π½ Breakfast: A Personalized & Authentic Experience
The hotel does something really smartβit adapts the breakfast experience based on the number of guests:
βοΈ Γ la carte breakfast on quiet mornings β A luxurious and exclusive experience where we could order anything we wanted.
βοΈ Breakfast buffet on busier days β A huge selection of sweet & savory dishes, offering both international and local options.
βοΈ Loved the local specialties like:
β
Mani smoked pork π₯
β
Traditional milk pie π₯§
β
Fried bread, a regional favorite π
π Room for Improvement in Breakfast Service
Although the variety was fantastic, after a few days, I noticed the same cakes and pastries being reused. While Iβm all for reducing food waste, it would be great if the kitchen offered smaller, fresher portions daily.
π₯ Lunch & Dinner: A Mediterranean Fusion
βοΈ The menu featured a mix of modern Mediterranean cuisine, but it felt less traditional than what youβd find in a local taverna.
βοΈ Since we were looking for authentic Greek flavours, we chose to eat out most nights.
Sustainability & Eco-Friendly Considerations
β»οΈ Suggestions for More Sustainability
πΉ Switch to refillable dispensers instead of single-use plastic toiletries.
πΉ Reduce individually packaged amenities by offering them at reception only for guests who truly need them.
