This Philippines travel guide will help you explore the top 10 must-visit destinations in 2024, offering tips and insights for every traveler.

10. Tumalog Falls in Cebu: A Top Place to See in the Philippines
In Cebu, Tumalog Falls is not just a tourist spot; it’s a marvel of nature that captivates all who visit. This impressive waterfall is famous for its towering height and striking blue waters, making it a must-see destination. Getting there involves a short ride from Oslob and a scenic downhill trek, which adds a touch of adventure to the journey. Although it’s a popular site, visiting in the early morning or late afternoon ensures a more peaceful and serene experience. The beauty and cool mist of Tumalog Falls are, without a doubt, truly mesmerizing.

9. Napcan Beach: One of El Nido’s Top 10 Places to See
Napcan Beach is your perfect retreat, especially if El Nido feels too bustling with activity. It offers a quieter atmosphere, complete with private bungalows that promise a relaxing stay. Additionally, boat tours to nearby islands conveniently start here, making it an excellent base for island hopping adventures. Thanks to recent improvements in the roads, traveling back to El Nido has become quicker and more comfortable, further adding to Napcan Beach’s undeniable appeal.

8. Chocolate Hills: A Must-See Among Bohol’s Top 10 Places to See
The Chocolate Hills in Bohol are truly extraordinary and unlike anything you’ve ever seen. These unique mound-like formations rise strikingly from the earth, creating a fascinating natural spectacle. During the dry season, their grassy cover transforms to a rich brown hue, resembling giant chocolate drops. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the Chocolate Hills Complex or Sagbayan Peak. Additionally, these iconic spots are easily accessible via Bohol’s scenic and well-maintained roads, making them a must-visit destination.

7. Sunset Views in Coron: A Breathtaking Panoramic Experience
Imagine a spot in the Philippines as iconic as the Hollywood sign, offering unmatched beauty and charm. This remarkable destination in Coron boasts panoramic views that are nothing short of unforgettable. Whether you visit at sunrise or sunset, the breathtaking colors and awe-inspiring scenery are guaranteed to leave you in awe. Additionally, while the climb may be demanding, the reward of a sweeping vista makes it an absolute must-visit destination for anyone exploring Coron.

6. Encountering the Tarsier: A Rare Wildlife Experience in Bohol
Bohol is home to the world’s smallest primate, the captivating Tarsier, making it a truly unique destination. At the Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella, these tiny creatures thrive in their natural habitat, offering visitors a rare chance to observe them up close. Spotting a Tarsier requires patience and a sharp eye, but the effort is undoubtedly worthwhile. Moreover, the small entrance fee supports vital conservation efforts, ensuring the protection of these delicate primates. With no advance booking required, this sanctuary is a convenient and enriching stop for wildlife enthusiasts exploring Bohol.
This is the website of the Sanctuary I went to.

5. Siargao Island: Surf, Explore, and Relax at This Top Place to See in the Philippines
My Top 10 places to see in the Philippines now takes you to the pristine beaches of Siargao, a top destination for surfers and sun-seekers alike. Often hailed as the surfing capital of the Philippines, Siargao is much more than just a surfer’s paradise. For instance, we chose to stay in the northern part of San Isidro rather than the bustling General Luna, allowing us to enjoy a slower, more laid-back lifestyle. Additionally, this area is highly recommended for those who prefer a less touristy vibe. Not to mention, San Isidro offers a unique opportunity to learn surfing, with excellent wave conditions perfect for beginners and seasoned surfers alike.

4. Relax at Maquinit Hot Springs: A Natural Retreat in Coron
After spending the day exploring Coron, you can unwind at Maquinit Hot Springs, a serene retreat nestled about 20 minutes from Coron town proper. Interestingly, this spot’s location along an isolated road ensures a tranquil escape from the busier parts of the area. The entrance fee is 300 pesos (approximately £4.50), and conveniently, you do not need to book in advance. While it’s a popular destination among both tourists and locals, the authentic thermal waters provide an incredibly soothing experience. Without a doubt, it’s well worth the visit for those seeking relaxation.

3. Aguinid Falls: Cebu’s Multi-Level Waterfall and a Top Place to See
Aguinid Falls in the Philippines offers an exhilarating experience as a climbable, multi-tiered waterfall with five distinct levels. The entrance fee is only 60 pesos (about £0.90), and while climbing the falls is safe and exhilarating, you will have to hire a guide. Guides are available on-site, and though their service is typically rewarded with a tip (we gave 500 pesos each to ours), the amount is discretionary and you can base yourself on your group size to decide what you feel their service was worth. This was my first waterfall climb which turned out easier than expected, thanks to arranged pathways and our guide.

2. El Nido Uncovered: A Highlight Among the Philippines’ Top 10 Places to See
In El Nido, you can choose from three different boat tour options: A, B, or C, each offering a unique exploration of various islands. I’ll delve into the specifics of each option in a separate post, but for our adventure, we opted for Tour A. This tour involves an early start—waking up at sunrise to meet your local guide. Together, you’ll visit the market to pick fresh ingredients for your lunch, adding a wonderfully personal touch to the day’s exploration. This immersive approach allows you to experience the beauty of the islands firsthand.

1. Coron Island: The Ultimate Top Place to See for Island Hopping
Following the exhilarating experiences in El Nido, I was eager to continue island hopping around Coron Island, which quickly topped my list of favorites. Similar to El Nido, the adventure begins early at the port where you negotiate with locals to customize your trip, selecting which islands to visit, this time no pre-done itinerary A, B or C you will have the freedom to select the places you want to stop at. You also visit the local market in the morning to choose fresh ingredients, which your guides will turn into a delicious midday meal. With numerous stunning locations, especially ideal for snorkeling, deciding where to go can be a delightful challenge.
